Diocese of Thamarassery
Thamarassery is a beautiful town in Kozhikode district, Kerala. It is about 30 KM by road from Kozhikode town. The eastern boundary of the diocese is along the Arabian Sea.
The Diocese of Thamarassery was established in 1986, bifurcating the Arch-diocese of Thalassery. The Thamarassery diocese encompasses the areas of Kozhikode (Calicut) district and Malappuram district in Kerala.

Bishop Mar Sebastian Mankuzhikkary, the then auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam, was named the first bishop of the dioceses of Thamarasserry in 1986. Mar Sebastian Mankuzhikkary passed away on June 11, 1994. In 1995, Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy was appointed the second bishop of the diocese. Mar Thoomkuzhy was made the Archbishop of Trichur in 1996. Following this, Mar Paul Chittilappilly, the then bishop of the diocese of Kalyan, was named the bishop of Thamarassery diocese in 1996. Mar Paul Chittilapilly took charge in February, 1997 and has been serving as bishop since.

There are 9 foranes under the Thamarassery diocese; the number of parishes is 94 and semi-parishes 34.
The population of Syro-Malabar Catholics in the diocese is a little over 1,25,000.
Diocesan House & Cathedral Church
The diocesan house is located just 500 metres from Thamarassery town.
The diocesan Cathedral is the beautiful Mary Matha Cathedral, situated right at the centre of Thamarassery town.
