Sexuality and Marriage

At the time of creation
Lord shaped man and woman
As friend and companion
And for mutual perfection.

No walls of separation
But ground for union
Made for love and life alone
They reflect the Holy One.

To the lasting love relation
Bride and groom say, amen
Marital love leads to fruition
As life shines on the horizon.

Sexuality and marriage in Gen 1:27

Sexuality and marriage resemble with God:

1. God is LIFE.
2. God is LOVE.
3. God is father or mother (PARENT).

Sexuality and marriage as call to:

• LOVE-MAKING
• LIFE-GIVING
• CARING OF LOVE AND LIFE

Marriage and Family Life: Gen 2:24-25

Gen 2:24: "...therefore, a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh."

• God creates the male first (Gen 2:7)
• He realizes the inadequacy of the solitary life (Gen 2:18)
• God provides a new and true companion authentically and equally human (Gen 2:23)
• The coming together of man and woman constitutes a unity (Gen 2:24: "...they become one flesh.")

Sexuality and Marriage: Gen 1 & 2

1. It was their creator who made them male and female (Gen 1:27)
2. He saw it was good (Gen 1:31)
3. Sexuality is something good which God made good and which will be natural and laudable in marriage
4. Anything good can be used badly too!
