Kakkoor Parish

Over 1200 parishioners, from around 300 families, are led by Rev. Fr. Jose Vadakkekkutt. Sunday school classes were started for children in the year 1915. Years down the line, several societies and youth movements like KCYM, Mathru-Jyothi, Vincent DePaul, Mission league, Marian Sodality have also found themselves established in this parish.
Annual retreats and Bible Conventions are also held in the parish at St. Joseph’s Church, in which villagers of other religions also enthusiastically participate along with hundreds of parishioners. In the year 1995, a part of the Kakkoor parish was divided to form the Thirumarady parish.
The Shrines
The parish church owns two shrines, the first being the shrine of St. Maria Goretti (Kurishu Palli) at Convent Junction, Kakkoor, built in the year 1925 and the second being Our Lady of Sorrows Shrine (Kurishumala Palli - Vyakula Matha Sanketham) that was built in the year 1957 at Thirumarady. Every year, on the Friday before Palm Sunday, the Way of the Cross is held starting from the Shrine of St. Maria Goretti and ending at the shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows, which is followed by Holy Mass at the latter shrine.
