Nirmalgram Retreat Centre, Chenkara, Kothamangalam

The Nirmalgram Retreat Centre is located on top of a hillock at Chenkara, a small place 9 km away from Kothamangalam in Ernakulam Dt, Kerala. The centre has a sylvan (surrounded by woods) setting, and a serene and tranquil background. The location is quite enchanting with lush green bushes and plants, and small forests. The "Thattekkadu Bird Sanctuary" and the "Boothathankettu Dam" -- both renowned tourist attractions -- are just a few kilometers away from Nirmalgram. All these make Nirmalgram an ideal spot for meditation and prayer.

It was late Fr Theobald CMI who started the Nirmalgram Retreat Centre. Blessed Virgin Mary is the patroness of this centre. Rev. Fr Sunny Pulparambil CMI is the current Director. He is assisted by Rev. Fr Joseph Thaliparambil CMI and Rev. Fr Joseph Kulakkattu CMI. The retreat programmes comprise a spontaneous blend of praise and worship, bible lessons, sermons, speeches, counselling, personal concern, Eucharistic celebration, and adoration.

Programmes

Every Saturday: One-day retreat with food (The programme is not charged.)

Every second Friday to next Monday: Residential programme - fasting & prayer

Every 3rd Sunday to next Saturday: 7-day residential programme (accommodation and food cost Rs 240/-)

There are special retreats for nuns, youth, children, and couples from time to time.
