Jesus Youth Fulltimers
Ten years of schooling and five years of college life give you a degree, along with a lot of hope and aspirations. You feel like being ready to embark on a career followed by a happy family life. Expectations are high and needless to say, you are burdened too. Demanding conditions, indecisiveness, endless search for jobs, and unfamiliar locations - you could really be in a jumble.
This is the time you turn to local prayer groups or youth groups to strengthen your spiritual side. There, you get the company and advice of young youth leaders who had been in similar stages, and spent a year of more for the Lord at His service; those who made a short term commitment of dedication for the Lord, which is to evolve into a life-time companionship with the Lord. Chances are that these youth leaders have been Jesus Youth Fulltimers.
These are the people who are capable of moulding your spiritual and personal life to make you the best ones for the Lord. This, because they have undergone several weeks of fulltime intensive training involving spiritual and biblical lessons, personal prayer, leadership and communication skills, followed by several months of mission work and youth animation - all making it a year of fulltime activity. At the end of the year, there emerges a group of young men and women, prepared to face the challenges of society and their own careers, and ready to lead young members of society and shape them into lives for the Lord.
JY Fulltimers' Selection & Training
The JY Fulltimers programme started in the year 1992.
Jesus Youth fulltimers are young graduates who earmark one whole year immediately following their graduation to join the JY fulltimers programme - a programme that moulds them into young group leaders capable of working for the Lord, serving society, guiding other youth, and themselves becoming successful in their personal and family lives.
Each JY Fulltimers programme admits 40 participants. The selection criteria revolve around the commitment, inner strength, and emotional maturity of the candidates. The educational qualification is a degree or diploma. Selected young men and women undergo 40 days of intensive full-time training involving spiritual and Church lessons, scripture study, personal development, prayer, meditation, etc.
This initial training is followed by mission work. Usually, the candidates are sent to different regions to undertake community works.
Jesus Youth leaders and animators and members of the clergy monitor the fulltimers' activities, and guide and inspire the candidates.
On completing the fulltimers programme, the candidates pursue their careers, having taken a personal commitment to serve the Lord for their lifetime.
